Blue light can enter your eyes from the sun naturally during the daytime. Blue light is crucial in helping your body regulate it’s sleep-wake cycles. However, most of us get an excessive amount of blue light at the wrong time of day which upsets our bodies’ natural rhythms. This is often from indoor lighting and electronic screen viewing, especially after dark. Incorrect blue light timing can increase your body’s cortisol levels, thus elevating stress, and resulting in headaches, low mood and difficulty sleeping.
Blue light blocking glasses are a great solution to reduce the quantity of blue light your eyes receive. We have tried different brands, and have found that Bon Charge (formerly BLUblox) glasses are the most effective. Many brands only filter out shades of violet, making them ineffective for digital screens. These filter out the entire blue light spectrum (400nm-495nm) and are available in different tints to help elevate your mood.
The yellow tint is a warm glow that promotes a happy and relaxed, yet alert state. Red tinted lenses that can assist your body in producing melatonin when worn for 2-3 prior to bedtime. Purchasing a pair from their website even allows you to add prescription lenses if you require. They also have many styles to choose from, and children’s sizes as well.
